I’ll be playing Marian Paroo in The Music Man this summer at the Louise K. Taylor Performing Arts Center! This is one of my favorite shows and I’m so exciting to get to be playing Marian! Details to come soon!
My talented bride will be the lead in The Music Man here in Los Angeles this summer.
It’s been a while since I’ve made a film. My first film was ok, not great… but it has moments I’m proud of, and the process of making it was a learning experience. I thought it would go on to festivals after our premiere in Austin. It didn’t.
These last few years have been transitional for me. Since I made my first feature, I’ve graduated from college, I got married, I worked two different jobs, I moved from Austin to Dallas to Austin to Dallas to Los Angeles. I haven’t had much time for long-form filmmaking. We’ve made a few sketches, a web series, a couple shorts here and there… but it’s time to get back to what I’ve set out to do.
Over the coming months I’m going to finish fleshing out some ideas I’ve had for a while, maybe shoot a short based on one of those ideas, and then launch a fundraising campaign.
A long time coming. Enjoy this new Instructional film I director for The Art of Manliness.
Latest addition to the tribe, we pick him up in two weeks. I think we should name him Tyrone. (at The Perfect Parrot)
Happy to announce I’ll be working with Brett McKay at ArtOfManliness.com to produce weekly videos.
Too many would-be filmmakers make careers out of asking for permission from people whose job it is to say no, when all they should be doing is figuring out how to make their own films - with or without anyone’s blessing.

LA is definitely a strange place, and the people are even stranger. Southern California in general is a culture focused on leisure and pop-cultural gluttony. It’s a nanny state, where people refuse to be responsible for their actions. This poisons everything from the unemployment rate to the business relations in the film industry. People are noncommittal, paralyzed and afraid to say “yes” or “no” to anything and are easily offended. The state controls almost every aspect of your life from when and where to use your phone to the high taxes on startup freelancers. Hollywood, is the most disgusting part of the city, where you are pretty sure someone is getting murdered every time cruise down the boulevard.
People always excuse this armpit of the country, they tell themselves, “well, this is where the business is…” But is it?
One of the many colorful performers in my life that influenced my craft. Thanks for the memories. RIP William Moody (aka Paul Bearer)
